Megan & Evan | Minnesota State Capitol Engagement Session in St. Paul

There’s something extra special about photographing people you’ve known for years — and Megan and Evan’s engagement session at the Minnesota State Capitol was one of those sessions that felt full-circle in the best way.

One of my favorite parts of this session? Megan was actually one of my best friends in elementary school. Life has a funny way of bringing people back together, and getting to capture this season of life for her felt incredibly meaningful. From playground memories to engagement photos at one of Minnesota’s most iconic locations, it honestly felt surreal in the sweetest way.

The Minnesota State Capitol was the perfect backdrop for their session. Between the grand architecture, soft stone details, sweeping staircases, and timeless feel, every corner gave their photos such a romantic and elegant atmosphere while still feeling relaxed and true to them. St. Paul always has this balance of historic charm and city energy, and it fit Megan and Evan’s vibe perfectly.

But beyond the beautiful location, what made this session stand out most was how effortlessly these two fit together. They spent the Morning laughing, talking, and completely settling into one another like no one else was around. Those are always my favorite kinds of sessions — the ones that don’t feel overly posed or forced, but instead feel like a snapshot of what their relationship actually looks like in real life.

One thing I loved most was how intentional they were about simply enjoying the experience together. Engagement sessions aren’t just about photos; they’re about slowing down for a second during the chaos of wedding planning and getting to celebrate this season you’re in right now. Megan and Evan did exactly that.

Sessions like this are such a reminder of why I love what I do so much. Getting to preserve not only beautiful moments, but meaningful connections and stories, is something I’ll never take for granted.
